Mrs.Pontellier could be crying because of her husbands idea that she is different from the other mothers around her and that she is realizing the imbalance of power between her and her husband.
Tammy Chiu Period 4 She could be crying because her husband was criticizing her love for her children by saying that she neglects them. Also it could be because her husband is becoming more and more controlling.
In the next chapters, there could be an unfair treatment of Mrs. Pontellier by her husband because he was looking at her like a piece of property and not a a human.

Tammy Chiu Period 4 I think Edna was reluctant to go inside because she finally realized her freedom and the power that she has. She didn't want to submit to her husband's orders as she has always done in the past.
Tammy Chiu Period 4 I think Edna was giving dirty looks to Marequita because Robert was interested in her company and was talking to her. Edna was probably jealous of the attention that Robert was giving Marequita.
Edna is not afraid to take action for her feelings. She just wants to give her husband another chance for his usual kindness. However, Edna cannot hold her feelings anymore because Leonce was disrespecting her. Later on, she takes action and goes against Leonce's commands.

After their trip together and having spent so much time with one another, he was starting to develop feelings towards her. Since he knows that it is wrong to get involved with a married woman, his only choice is to distance himself from Edna.

CHAPTER 1: It was briefly shown in chapter 1 that the green and yellow parrot and the lady in white (Madame Lebrun) were obnoxious. Also, it was shown that the lady in black was quiet. Why would bright colors be shown as a negative connotation and darker colors as a positive connotation?
